I love watching the repeats of Bullseye, it is a cult show watched by millions. You can’t beat a bit of Bully!

Andy, Always was a terrific show and always will be. All the best in getting it stateside. It will give me something to look forward, as Spurs don’t give me much these days. Cheers and all the best in darts, Roger (Roger Bick, Ex-President, American Darts Organization, Pearland, Texas, USA

The renewed popularity of this sport and the "new" high profile professional players together with the "availability for all to play" type game easily justifies a new series attracting a whole new audience in addition to those who loved it in the past.

Bring Back Bully!!

I’m fed up of watching a load of mercenary overpaid footballers on Sunday afternoons. Bring back the good old days when professional & amateur join forces to throw darts & answer not so high-brow questions & win proper prizes, like 250 quid, mini metros & fondue sets. We want Bullseye back.

Following cancer treatment my husband was confined to the house a lot of the time. Watching Bullseye repeats was a great stimulus for him.  It kept his brain active whilst trying to answer the questions, and his voice too, when shouting advice for where the players should aim.   Many like him would appreciate a sensible and stimulating game show to watch - so please make another series.

I know he would love to be a contestant - any chance of being put on the list for application please????   Many thanks.

I am writing to say how much I miss Bullseye and wish it would come back onto our screens. It was THE game show of my youth and I think that today's reality rubbish does not even begin to compare.

Back in the 80's when I played darts (hey, I was always in the pub) Bullseye was a fun show to watch, especially watching the "non dart playing" contestants. Some of these people looked like they didn't  know which end to throw at the dartboard. Jim Bowen was great and the fabulously expensive prizes were a hoot.

Bring Bullseye back, nice one.............I'll have the "fishing row boat" and the "juice blender" please Jim. And hey!!!.." Where's my Bully Tankard??"

Bullseyetvgameshow.com  - Great site, ”Smashing, fantastic”  When are we going to see Bullseye back on terrestrial TV where it belongs?.

New game shows may be slicker, they may be more 'Hi Tec', they may have bigger prizes but none comes close to 'Bullseye'.

Bring back bully at a decent time and on terrestrial TV so all the family can watch it.

The speed boats, the bendy bullies, the tattoos, fridge freezers, the majesty of Bullseye. Words alone can't do justice to this sleeping titan of 80's quiz shows. But if I had to choose one, I'd like to see Bully sweep across my TV screen, with a dictionary, spelling out the word 'incomparable', or should that be incomparaBULL?

Andrew WoodComments by Andrew Wood : Creator, Devisor and Writer of 'Bullseye' in association with Norman Vaughan

I have so many great memories from all the series of 'Bullseye' that we made. One in particular comes to mind at this time. It was a letter from a viewer in September 1993. He didn't know that Series 12 was being repeated by Central and Anglia TV on Thursday at half past midnight in September 1993.

The viewer was a regular 'Bullseye' viewer on Sunday afternoons. On the Wednesday evening he went out and had a few beers. Quite a few as it happens. Later that night when he got home, a little worse for wear, he got into bed and turned on his TV set and fell asleep whilst he was watching a cowboy film. He woke up in the middle of 'Bullseye' and panicked. He thought he'd been asleep from Wednesday to Sunday.

Comments by Peter Harris, the first Director of, Bullseye.

Bullseye really is my favourite game show still. I remember the very first rehearsal. It was at the Grosvenor House Club, Birmingham and it wasn't until Jim was 'chatted up' by two gay guys that he realised that the clientele of the club was predominately gay guys.

Jim liked the place so much he took his wife there.

Jim Bowen and I spent a lot of time at ATV studios in Birmingham together - in fact he was the only person who spent more time in the bar than I did.

He's a great bloke and Bullseye was probably one of the most slagged-off shows of all time and yet continued to get huge ratings week after week for many years.

One of the proudest moments of my life was when Jim actually gave - yes gave - me a free "Bully" keyring.

During recording of a show of Bullseye in Series four we lost the lighting for over an hour and had to stop recording the programme in front of a live studio audience. The Director of the show - Mr. Peter Harris - also of Muppets fame came down from the Control Room onto the set and had a piano wheeled out on to the set and played it for an hour.  The studio audience had a great time having an knees up and a sing-a-long until the lighting came back on.

During a recording of a programme in Series twelve Jim Bowen was stuck behind the stage and could not get onto the set to open the show. So I quickly realised we had a problem and promptly stepped in and did Jim Bowen's opening routine. The end of which the set moved and Jim was able to come on and take over and complete the recording of the show.

I have always been a big fan of Bullseye and in particular Bully and the show’s host Jim Bowen.  It was a very entertaining show with great prizes to be won and must TV throughout homes around the country.  Cult TV at its best. Super smashing great!

Hi!

My wife and I were contestants on the first series of the programme in 1981; she was the dart thrower and I answered the questions! Most of them, that is…

My wife Chris was very pregnant at the time (the show was recorded in June/July and my daughter, who is now 27, was born the following August) and we believe she was the first ever noticeably pregnant TV game show contestant. Our show was broadcast in the November, and I remember my elderly mother was aghast when she saw Chris’s bump – thinking she was pregnant again!

What a fantastic time we had on that day! Everyone associated with the show, the Admin girls, the producer Peter Holmans, Director Peter Harris (and his mother!), Tony Green (with his afro hair!), Keith Lascelles, the floor manager, and of course the inimitable Jim Bowen, all made our day so special. We didn’t get through to the prize board, but the winners decided not to gamble and we got to throw for the star prize, giving up the princely sum of £30 to do so!  If my memory serves me correctly, we scored 94 – and ‘lost’ a caravan; but we won a memory we will treasure for ever; and I still have my Bullseye darts!

Thank you, Bullseye!

With darts on the increase all over the world - we need programmes like Bullseye - all the family enjoy it.  It encourages the youngsters to take up the sport - they are our darting future.   Come on someone - let's see a new series or, better still, a new series of programmes with new players, new hosts, new questions - Bring Back Bully.

A great show that all the family can enjoy. Everyone's favourite Sunday TV viewing back in the 80's and 90's. I would love to see a new series and be invited back on again.

I had a brilliant time working on the Bullseye Road Shows with Tony Green.

U Can't beat a bit of bully.  Bring back Bullseye!  U know it makes sense.

Bring back Bullseye! I play darts regularly in  local leagues and am Secretary of one league. I think the thing that  encouraged me was those Sunday afternoons, with the smell of Sunday dinner  cooking, and watching Jim Bowens Bullseye with my family. I still watch the  reruns and can imagine that smell, Mmmmm roast  dinner!!

Comment by Dennis Liddington, Director of five series of, Bullseye.

One of the contestants who looked frail at the start of the show, gradually got worse though part one. Each time it was his turn to answer the question he got more nervous and very shaky. We managed to get him to the commercial break at the end of part one and we rushed him off to hospital. I was worried that he might be having a heart attack. Fortunately for the show he didn't win part one and he decided he would take the money he had won and drop out of the game. I'm pleased to say he returned home from hospital the next day, not suffering with heart trouble, but stress from appearing on television in front of a live audience.

I have found memories of Bullseye, Jim, Tony, Andy, Norman, Bully and some of happiest moments in my thirty five years of working in television. Bullseye is a great show. How Jim got away with his rehearsal performance is beyond me. It was one hell of a laugh.

Frank CarsonComment by Frank Carson. The funniest comedian in the country. If you don't believe that, ask him.

I was so surprised when Bullseye came off ITV. It's such a good show. Bring it back.

Bowen only had two '0' Levels, mugging and shoplifting. He was certainly the man for the job. It was me that introduced him many many years ago on the 'Comedians'.    He's as funny as a snowball in a microwave.

Any show that pulls in the many millions of punters and students in equal numbers as Bullseye did has to be a great show. Loved it.

Yes, it’s about time BULLSEYE was returned to our screens.

In the history of darts on TV BULLSEYE with Jim Bowen at the helm was the most popular darts programme ever. As a young darter I remember sitting watching the show on a Sunday afternoon whilst having my tea and thinking “I’d like to be there watching that or even taking part.” I wrote to Central Television and Jim Bowen dropped me a note and a couple of tickets to sit in the audience but the dates clashed with a holiday so I never went!

So, if they bring it back, I might get offered tickets again. Who knows?

Good luck anyway.

Patrick
